Those who desire to post sailplans on this site must register. Registration provides accountability. That is, valid email addresses are required so users can know who submitted information and, indeed, can pose questions to those individuals or companies. Thus, it is a good idea to make your user name recognizable if it will help substantiate your entry. For example, sailmakers and boat builders should make their user name such that it readily identifies them.
Boat Name Tips
Include in the boat name used for a posting any words that might be helpful in a search. This can mean including the name of the designer or builder. When a search is requested, all boat names returned will be in order by length so even long lists can be looked through rather quickly.
Photos & Attachments
Boat photos can be helpful in assessing proper two dimensional sail shape. Sailplan drawings are also extremely revealing. These can often be scanned as bitmapped files (bmp) which are easily added to the dimensional information on this site.
URL
Most sailboat one design classes maintain a web site with lots of helpful information. And builders also often have revealing sites. One site can be added to each posting. Be sure to list the URL address completely, e.g., http://xxxxx.xxx
Description
The description field in each posting is optional. Here it is possible to describe unusual features of the boat (sail features can be added to the individual sail listings). Any tips as to special needs arising from such design features such as "overcanvased", "stiff", "close winded", "bendy mast", "loose rig" etc. are helpful.
